Last night I had dinner in Tuscany Beach restaurant in Camps Bay. The setting was absolutely beautiful with a perfect summer night. The food was amazing (sushi, chicken salad, seafood platter for 1) and nothing could have been better, until we got the bill. Now I know that seafood platters are not cheap, so we knew what we were letting ourselves in for, but R50 a cocktail (and not even particularly special ones at that)?!!!!!

Whilst browsing through the menu I could have sworn that the Mai Tai's were around R 34, which is what I had two of and a friend had two Pina Coladas (which I evendently did not know the price of). I wasn't bright enough to check the menu again, maybe it was an honest mistake, but I just thought I should mention it.

Internationally though it's probably still cheap for cocktails! Less that £5 for a cocktail, but DAMN. Lemme know if you have similar experiences...

Swatch-FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour

Camps Bay beach will be packed to capacity to see all the volleyball world tour stars in action from the  15-27 November 2005. Following the big success of the Men's event last year, tour organisers have added the Women's event to the tally this year and doubled the size of the competition. There will thus be some eyecandy for women and men alike.

The ladies are up first from the 15-20th of November followed by the men from the 21st until the 27th Nomveber.

If you're a fan of volleyball, this would be the premium event to go to for the year in Cape Town.

Summerville in Camps Bay is a great spot for sundowners and good food. Even with the South Easter blowing we could still enjoy the outdoor tables since the restaurant is somewhat shielded by the mini mall next to it.

The snacks menu is really great and perfect for those late afternoon summer drinks. Our mouthes really watered at the prawn dishes and cheese platter that is served at a reasonable price.

They also have ample seating inside for days that the weather do not permit seating outside, allthough they have outdoor heating to make the outdoor section more comfortable when cool.
